Our Story

FUSE is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities and their families through connection, support, advocacy, and opportunities for meaningful community involvement. We believe every person deserves to be valued, included, and supported in pursuing their goals, building relationships, and living a fulfilling life. Through programs, events, and partnerships, FUSE works to strengthen our community while creating spaces where individuals and families can thrive together.

FUSE began in April 1996 as a small gathering designed to connect families involved in First Steps, Indiana’s early intervention program, and provide a space for support, encouragement, and shared experiences. That very first meeting welcomed just 12 people. Over the years, FUSE has grown and evolved far beyond its original roots, now serving nearly 2,400 individuals and family members each year through programs, events, advocacy, and community connections. While the organization has expanded tremendously, the heart of FUSE remains the same: bringing people together, building relationships, and creating a more inclusive and supportive community for all.
