Protecting Your Child with Special Needs from Sexual Abuse–April 12 Shelbyville Meeting

We will be tackling an important topic at the April 12 meeting in Shelbyville.  Heather Dane of Family Voices Indiana will present a session on Protecting Your Child with Special Needs from Sexual Abuse

This workshop will address the unique circumstances surrounding protecting your child with special needs from sexual abuse.  This difficult but necessary topic will provide parents with tips and strategies in how to best protect their child. It will also address the consequences related to sexual abuse and what to do when abuse is suspected.

Heather Dane currently works as a Health Information Specialist with Family Voices Indiana where she assists families and professionals in navigating the various and complicated systems serving children with special health care needs. Heather has two children both of whom have Cerebral Palsy. She decided to tackle this tough subject after attending a workshop about sexual abuse in children which failed to address the distinctive situations that she faced as a parent.
