FUSE Offers Fall Social Skills Group

FUSE is pleased to offer a social skills development group this fall to students enrolled in Grades 6-9.  Social Skills groups are designed for students who need help learning how to make friends, initiate/ maintain conversation, participate in group activities, compromise, and win/lose when playing games. Weekly lessons will use a combination of formal and informal activities in a small group atmosphere.  Sessions include leader-directed instruction with hands-on practical exercises that may include video modeling, skits, crafts, group games, the iPad, and a simple snack for skill reinforcement.  Unstructured conversation also allows students to practice skills without adult interaction but with instant feedback from the leader.

Sessions will be on Thursday evenings from October 15 through November 19 at 6:30-8:00pm. Sessions will meet at the FUSE office located at 1133 W Main St. Ste E, Greenfield. Registration fee is $60.00, payable in advance or at first session. Limited scholarships are available for those with financial need.

Space in this program is limited to 10 kids per session. Applicants should be enrolled in Grades 6-9.  Program not limited to any particular diagnosis, but students do need to have verbal communication skills.  Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and parents will be notified if their child has been enrolled within a week of application.
Application deadline is October 9 but apply early, program could fill up quickly.
